In January 2005 the minister visited Peru under the auspices of The Vine Trust to see the work supported by the Trust and undertaken in partnership with Scripture Union Peru. Upon his return home and with the full support of the Kirk Session, the congregation adopted a building site in Ica where a home was being built for abandoned boys and agreed to provide help for its completion.

A Work Team of twenty volunteers from the congregation and community travelled to Ica in 2006 and helped with the construction of the Home. In January 2008 the minister travelled to Ica to take part in the official opening ceremony of Casa Girasoles Home for Abandoned Boys. Forty boys now live in safety under the care of houseparents Augusto and Nancy Cavero. He returned again to Ica to undertake further building work with another team of twenty five volunteers from our church and community in October 2008. Meanwhile a further visit to Ica is being planned to take place during October 2012. An annual Coffee Morning is held to provide the children with presents for birthdays and Christmas.
