The Church is very please to have formed a close link with Casa Girasoles, Ica, Peru. This is a home for abandoned boys, run by Scripture Union, Peru . Cupar Old Parish has funded the construction of this home as part of our C4Ward redevelopment project, which also involved refurbishing the main church sanctuary and extending and upgrading the church hall into our new Old Parish Centre.
Members and friends of Cupar Old Parish visited Ica in 2006 to help with the early construction of the home, and a second work party returned in October 2008 to see the now open home, with its new residents (about 40 boys and the house parents and other associated staff), as well as to help start building work on a new extension to the site. During the last trip to Peru in October 2008, a blog of the trip was kept by Will Goad and Colin Maclean - Click Here to view this
We are keeping in touch with Augusto and Nancy (the amazing house parents at the home) and hence maintain the link with the boys and to help them overcome their past histories and lead a productive future. This area was devasted by flooding in January 2010.
