Welcome to Cupar Old Parish Church

Cupar Old Parish Church

WELCOME TO WORSHIP TODAY. We hope that our time together will help to nourish you in faith. If you are a guest and would like more information about the church, please speak with one a member of the Welcome Team serving at the door.

You are invited to stand at the beginning when the beadle carries the bible into the church, as a mark of respect and reverence for the Word of God which is the focus of our worship and fellowship together.

Activity bags for children are available from the Welcome Team to use throughout the service. Please return to the Welcome Team at the end of the service.

For those with hearing difficulties a loop induction system operates in this church.

Prayer Ministry: If you would like to be supported in prayer, please make your way at the end of the service to the front of the church where Hazel and Malcolm will be available to pray with you. Members of the Prayer Team will also be available for prayer in the Quiet Room at the Old Parish Centre during coffee. A confidential prayer chain is available for emergency or immediate prayer. Contact Eleanor Morris (657556 or 07748291571).

Refreshments will be served in the Old Parish Centre after this service.

Hymn Let Everything That Has Breath SF 880

Let everything that, everything that,

everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Let everything that, everything that,

everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise you in the morning,

praise you in the evening,

praise you when I’m young and when I’m old.

Praise you when I’m laughing,

praise you when I’m grieving,

praise you every season of the soul.

If we could see how much you’re worth,

your power, pour might, your endless love,

then surely we would never cease to praise.

Let everything that…

Praise you in the heavens,

praise you with the angels,

praising you forever and a day.

Praise you on the earth now,

joining with creation,

calling all the nations to your praise.

If they could see how much you’re worth,

your power, pour might, your endless love,

then surely they would never cease to praise.

Let everything that…

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours,

now and forever. Amen.

Hymn The Lord’s My Shepherd SF 1030

The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want.

He makes me lie in pastures green.

He leads me by the still, still waters.

His goodness restores my soul.

And I will trust in you alone.

And I will trust in you alone,

for your endless mercy follows me;

your goodness will lead me home.

He guides my ways in righteousness,

and he anoints my head with oil,

and my cup, it overflows with joy;

I feast on his pure delights.   And I will trust…

And though I walk the darkest path,

I will not fear the evil one,

for you are with me, and your rod and staff

are the comfort I need to know.   And I will trust…

Children’s Message

Invitation to Reflection

Confession of Bondage We confess in unison

Listening God, hear our cries.

We are not free.

We have enslaved ourselves and others

to debt and despair.

We are bound by vain desires,

and our liberty to love is curtailed by bad habits.

Our emotions hold us hostage to wrongs,

real and imagined.

In our bondage we are less that what you call us to be.

Hear us and answer us, we pray,

in the name of the One

who came to set prisoners free.  Amen

Words of Assurance

Affirmation of Freedom We affirm our faith

Christ has set us free to become what God intends:

a people grounded in the love of Jesus

and confident in God’s abiding presence.

We gratefully offer ourselves

to one another and to the world

in humble witness, generous service,

and joyful praise.  Amen

Hymn Faithful One SF 89

Faithful One, so unchanging;

Ageless One, you’re my rock of peace.

Lord of all, I depend on you.

I call out to you again and again.

I call out to you again and again.

You are my rock in times of trouble.

You lift me up when I fall down.

All through the storm

your love is the anchor:

my hope is in you alone.
