In August 2011 the minister began studying for a Doctor of Ministry degree. The three to four year course is run by Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and the University of Aberdeen, and consists of four two weeks schools held in Pittsburgh and Aberdeen, three reading electives and a final 30,000 word dissertation.

After each school the minister is required to write two essays. There are links below to the two essays written after the first school in Pittsburgh in August 2011, and after the second school in Aberdeen in January 2012.
